Looking for William John Pockett, the son of James Pockett who was the son of Thomas Pockett.
Thomas Pockett was a Greengrocer in Coleford, Forest of Dean in 1905. His son James worked as a Railway Servant at that time. Two years later he is known to have been a plane machinist in a stone works in the Forest of Dean.
Family statements, which are notoriously false, state that he died sometime after 1907. Other statements are that he committed suicide. None of these statements can be proven at this time but there are no death records for this person. Also, his son, William John Pockett was supposed to have died at about the same time. This all seems to convenient.
It is therefore believed that There was a divorce between James Pockett and his wife, Florence Emily Brown. At the time there was no adoption and it was usual for children to be brought up by the brides family so that she could continue working.
If this is the case then William John Pockett became, William John Brown.
