This part of my family has its roots in Scotland but, James Alexander Miekle married my Grandmother in St. Johns Baptist Church in Toxteth, Liverpool, on the 2nd May 1918. They moved from Liverpool to London in the same year.
James Alexander Miekle was a Ships Steward at that time.
There were at l;east four children within the marriage, which was a second marriage for my Grandmother.
The names of the children were:-
Vera Josephine Pockett, born in The Institution at Old Hereford Road, Monmouth in 1913, it seems that this may have been a "Workhouse" or similar Institution.
Charles C.W. Pockett, born in Islington in 1918 about whom
nothing further is known.
Marjorie Miekle, born in Marylebone, London in 1919 and who
disappears from the records at that date.
Jean Miekle, born in Hammersmith, London in 1920 and who again
drops from the records that I have seen at that time.
It is also possible that there was a son to the family called either Edward or Donald Miekle. There is no record that I have seen that proves any birth of this person although I was told that I carry his name, that being Edward.
